HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!

Please someone remind me of this post if I ever mention using anything on my skin ever again!!! The first few days of using the oil and gloves made my hands feel good.  They looked like they were healing. Then yesterday things went horribly wrong!  My hands started burning and the pain was like the very beginning!!   And let's not talk about the swelling and oozing!! Oh boy! I was MAD, ANGRY, CRYING, and basically really pissed off at myself!!

Fast forward to today going through moisturizer withdrawal again on my hands.  The pain is extreme...no more than I have dealt with in the past but to go from little pain to this in one day is too much.  Again the rest of my body is flare - free.  This is not a flare, but definitely a reaction to putting something on my skin.  Please excuse me for a few days....writing this is killing my fingers.  I will be taking time off of work, not answering emails, or even blogging.  I plan to rest my hands as much as possible so I can get back to work and my life.

And sorry Joey....I appreciate your response....but when you wrote you wore the gloves for 2 YEARS, I thought there was just no way I can do that.   I know we all have to do what we have to in order to get through this, but as you know I have little patience....my goal still remains to find answers, not let time go by idle while I wait to heal.  I just know MW works really well for me....just have to figure out what to do with my hands AND be able to work.  Next experiment is in the works....starting in a few days....will write about it and whether I have success or not next week.

For now, stay strong everyone.  I WILL have my life back again very soon.

Oh, and pictures....hahaha that's a joke right now.

  1. Ouch Tracy! just reading about it sounds painful!

Sounds like the MW suits you much better and the moisturisers are aggravating your skin badly.

Hope the effects of the MW kick in soon and you can get some relief for your poor hands.

Next experiment sounds intriguing and I will look forward to reading about it. I've got 3 experiments on the go myself right now. We have to keep trying stuff and see what works best. I'm having a good patch right now and actually got a compliment about my skin today, so have faith that yours will improve soon.

I'm rooting for you my friend and hope the MW brings sweet relief. X

  2. Tracy, I don't know that I would call your experiment with gloves/oil a mistake. It was a coping mechanism that worked for you for a few days--long enough to give you some relief from discomfort and some measure of healing--but it has now stopped working for you. I think of our TSW coping mechanisms as midcourse corrections. Like driving a car, we are constantly having to adjust our position as we move down the road. What alleviates discomfort and promotes healing today might not work tomorrow. Thus our need to adjust our tactics as circumstances change. It just seems to be the nature of TSW. So, please don't be upset with yourself. It's just time to try something else for your hands, which I gather you are doing. Good luck!

    2. Dan,
Quite a few blog posts ago I wrote about trying your hand method....the tea tree oil did not help after the DSS baths.....I stopped everything after trying the ACV. But my hands continue to take a beating at work and I have to find a solution...even if it means taking time off of work.

    3. Tracy, the tea tree oil works rather well when used properly, as do the dss baths. I have no idea on how you used either so will not comment other than to say I have found both extremely useful as have others. And if you say that's because we are all different I think I will have a cow! Anyway, good luck. I truly wish you the best and really think you should stop working until your hands are healed better, and you find a way to protect them at work.

    4. I used the tea tree oil just as you recommended....I even put it on straight on some areas without diluting it. I used it for 2-3 weeks, but again I was working as well using harsh soaps so I don't think that it doesn't work - just that I think nothing is going to help unless I stop working for a few weeks to give my hands a break.

    1. I appreciate your passion on the topic of MW. I am just as passionate about the gene mutation BUT putting people down because they don't agree with me would be wrong - I believe we all have the right to our beliefs whether based on science or experience. I believe ITSAN has done a tremendous job with spreading the word about TSA/TSW. While I may not agree with every single "rule" they have I support them for helping to bring awareness and helping people to find hope. I will not delete comments on my blog (except for the occasional spammer), but I will not get into debates about personal attacks towards others. I just ask that we be respectful towards one another. Thank you! :)

    2. Tracy, it is not my intention to put anyone down. I do not believe I was making personal attacks, just telling the truth in an effort to show just how wrong the Itsan vets are on nearly everything they do and say. And how they attempt to discredit information that is truly helpful. Obviously I'm wasting my time. I do not support Itsan for reasons I pointed out and believe just the opposite of your beliefs. I don't believe they help people find hope but rather the opposite. Telling people nothing can speed up TSW does not bring hope, it takes away hope. Telling people not to bother with diets or anything else for that matter does not inspire hope. And as far as bringing awareness, well awareness to what? Awareness to slather yourself in moisturizers. We don't need that kind of awareness. Individuals spread far more awareness about tsa/tsw than Itsan ever did or ever will. Maybe I'm wrong but am entitled to my beliefs just as you are entitled to yours. But I do respect you and since this is your blog and I have deleted my posts since they can be construed as put downs. But believe me, that was not my intention or motive. If you would like this post deleted just go ahead and delete. It wouldn't offend me at all. If I see it here later today I will delete it myself.

    3. No worries Dan...you don't have to delete anything....I'm a firm believer in free speech. You have to understand, I left the forums for quite a few months as I felt my ideas were being put down as well, especially the diet debate. This was over 6 months ago. I had felt somewhat bullied. But I went back to help support those that needed support. ITSAN has brought tremendous awareness about TSA/TSW....without it I might still be using TS and that would be horrible. It is no secret I was against the "policy" if you will that time was the only known way to heal. I have spoken out against this theme as I believe it destroys hope. BUT that doesn't mean the well-intentioned people on the forum who are suffering don't deserve support. So I personally learned to keep to the rules of the forum, support as many people as I could, and created this blog to open the dialogue on any topic regarding TSW. I don't create any rules....I just ask for people to be respectful. If anyone wants to open debate about anything, I am open to it, Diet, supplements, MW, whatever.
I view ITSAN like any organization....I'm not going to like all the rules or policies, but if some good can come out of it, well then it can't be all bad. I agree about the MW part. But I believe in time more research and personal experiences will prove you right. It takes awhile for people to change, especially when their beliefs are based on something a doctor told them. ITSAN is beating their heads against the walls wondering why more doctors don't "get" TSA/TSW in just the same way you are beating your head against the wall wondering why ITSAN doesn't "get" MW. When I say I understand your passion about this, I REALLY do! I was hell bent on finding a way to decrease the time and severity of suffering for TSW....MW is just a part of what I believe helps. My theory about the gene mutation would only elevate MW as if we all have this gene mutation, then putting anything on the skin would be detrimental because the cells are not able to process/clean out/repair themselves and whatever is applied to the skin would only harm it further. It would be the reason MW is beneficial from a scientific standpoint. I believe we all contribute a lot to helping others. It is my wish to just have peace and harmony while doing so....and while I understand why you think you are just pointing out the obvious, sometimes our words on screen do not always come across as they are meant. I have been guilty of this myself....saying something that was well intended only to have someone take it the wrong way.
I consider you a friend, Dan, so please keep coming here and chatting!!! I need to get over to your blog and so many others! I have seriously fallen behind in keeping up with everyone!

    4. Tracy, thank you for understanding and for putting things in better perspective for me. I see what you mean and can definitely learn from it. Respect is so very important. I'll try a different approach going forward and make my best attempt to not bring this down to a level it doesn't belong. You enabled me to understand better with your analogy. How brilliant you are! I also consider you my friend as well. I also hold no ill feelings towards the vets regardless of things said in the past. All people are inherently good. We are all caring people and we all have our faults. I never have held grudges or hate people. But I do often communicate my feelings and opinions in a poor way and it's a constant battle for me. I am always open to constructive criticism, and I do believe things will change for the better, especially if I stop shoving my views in peoples faces. I tried being nice at first and it didn't work. But using an "in your face attitude" obviously is only a worse approach. Guess I need to go back to being nice and try to be much much more patient. Once enough people stop all moisturizing for over a month it will be like a snowball rolling down a steep hill and nothing will be able to stop it at that point. I will patiently wait for that to happen. In the meantime I will just try and make my message clearer through various posts on my blog and try my best to avoid making my same mistakes over and over. Thanks again!

    5. Anytime my friend! I took things more personally in the first few months when the pain was the worst. My brain didn't seem to want to work. I am so happy to have my brain back functioning more normally! I learned early in life how to take constructive criticism....wasn't easy as I am a very emotional person as a whole. But it helped me to see things more clearly by taking a step back and thinking things through. You are absolutely right....most people are inherently good...I say most because I have met the rare evil person. But overall most people try to be helpful and not harmful. :)
